Haluk Eldem

Graduated from the Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1968. His practice focuses mainly on commercial law, corporate law, food law, bankruptcy and insolvency, real estate and construction law, capital markets law, competition law and law of foundations. He represented clients in numerous unfair competition and trademark infringement cases. He was instrumental in the establishment by Turkish food companies of new companies in CIS countries shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He acted as project leader in various mergers & acquisitions deals. He advises a substantial portfolio of corporate clients from a wide range of sectors. He was a member of the Advisory Board assigned by the Ministry of Health of the Özal government in 1983 for the purpose of amending the food legislation. In the 1990’s, he acted as a member of the commission constituted by the Turkish Food Employers’ Union (the “Union”) for the purpose of drafting a new Food Law to be presented to the Ministry of Agriculture. The present Food Law is largely based on the draft prepared by this commission. Mr. Eldem is currently delegate to the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. He is the co-author of a book on food law, and also wrote several articles relating to food law. He is a member of the Istanbul Bar Association. He speaks Arabic.
